I WAS AROUND 12 THE FIRST TIME I SAW A FASHION ILLUSTRATION...

It was in the New York Times fashion section-I think coverage of the Paris couture collections (had to be, it was before ready-to-wear was 'conceived'). I was dumbstruck by the drawings. How could so much information be packed into a few beautiful, bold lines. I remember drawing and redrawing those sketches, trying to break the code.

So to have my drawings in the same paper is, well, I'm kind of dumbstruck in a different way...
