PORTRAIT OF PAUL LOWE...
Paul Lowe - a brilliant food and interior stylist - contacted me to do a sketch of him as a gift to his partner. Here is the result...

WOW. PARSONS STUDENTS ARE PRETTY AMAZING...
A couple of months ago a group of Parsons students asked if they could interview me about the blog. Their assignment was to 'choose an individual who questions the conventions of his or her given field and then observe how they challenge and convert those systems into new applications.'
I think what that means is that I sketch what I see on the streets, then blog.
Anyway, they put together this incredible magazine mixing my work with their writing. I am so impressed by the professionalism and talent that I wanted to share some of it here.
Big shout out to Dianne, Malinda, Veronica, Ashely and Kelsey.

OUTERWEAR. RED + GREEN = XMAS...
JUSTONE...LIKE 'JUST - ONE'
MAXWELL. A STUDENT OF PUBLIC POLICY...
I'm still not totally comfortable asking people to pose, but sometimes the look is just too good to pass up. Case in point with Maxwell. Kind of a perfect look put together in an effortless way. As close as one can get to a 1962 Godard film w/o being nostalgic.
Seen at Joe's E 13th. It demanded to be recorded!

GODARD-VILLE...
WITH A 'WOOSH' THREE FRENCH GUYS GLIDED ONTO THE Q TRAIN
and engaged with each other as if they were in a 'salon' and not the train. I knew they were French before they spoke - the high-armhole overcoats, the long cashmere scarves, the important watch. The luxurious hair, or no hair at all. The overtone of cologne mixed by 100 year old nuns in Brittany.
All dead give aways...and chic as hell.
BEARDS, BLANKET WOOL, GRIZZLY BEARS...
